“Foremothers”

This image includes three photo transfer images of some of my ancestors, all now long deceased. I hope you can use my submission despite the reference to human likenesses. I’ve been using some of my extra ‘covid’ time to delve into old family archives and working on restoration of photo materials mainly. One of the purposes of art is Memory; the remember people, places, events, history.

I enjoyed the process of making this collage with a variety of materials. I tried to remember how to embroider, but realized I just like the thread as a linear element & colour so precise patterns didn’t matter too much. Thanks for the opportunity to do this piece and share it. (I like the back of this, too.)
